The United Arab Emirates was hit hard on March 16, as Iran announced more attacks in response to the war waged by the United States and Israel.
Flights were temporarily suspended at Dubai International Airport in the early morning after a fire broke out near the airport after a “drone-related incident”. This was the third such attack on the airport since the start of the war more than two weeks ago.
Some flights were delayed, while others were cancelled altogether, in another blow to the UAE’s image of safety and stability.

A fire also raged after a drone attack on the strategically important port and industrial zone at Fujairah, one of the largest oil storage facilities in the UAE. Oil loading operations at the port were halted for a time while damage assessments were carried out, according to the operator, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.
Fujairah provides a strategic bypass to the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway has been nearly completely closed since the start of the American-Israeli war on Iran, which hit multiple vessels nearby in response.

Separately, a missile attack on a car killed a Palestinian national on the outskirts of the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, the city’s Media Office reported, noting that the incident took place in the Al Bahia area.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, from its side, announced that its naval forces carried out an “accurate and devastating operation” against Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE. U.S. forces are known to be deployed at the air base, which is located near Abu Dhabi.
Large ripped through the air base resulting in an evacuation order, the guards said in a statement, adding that “American terrorists” were forced to clear their fighter jets from Al Dhafra and transfer them to other inland air bases.
The UAE has taken the brunt of Iranian retaliatory attacks since the start of the American-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic.
The attack escalated in recent days, but there are still no indications that the UAE, which enjoys excellent relations with both the U.S. and Israel, could join the war on Iran. Such a move is guaranteed to trigger even more escalation by the Islamic Republic.
